Some birthday of high profile people are bound to be monotonous. Some gifts are monotonous. Some speech by high profile politicians too are monotonous.
Today was just another day on the outskirts of Mumbai city limits. Locals as they know and call it as Dahisar Check Naka, North Mumbai and to be precise Murbadi Talao near Gokul Anand Hotel on Western Express Highway was the spot where Chief Minister of Maharashtra had come to inaugurate a swimming pool and gymnasium. Mr. Prakash Darekar, Corporator from Ward No. 5 had put in a lot of hard work to conceptualize the plan. Earlier there was no swimming pool on East side between Dahisar and Goregaon.
Mumbaikars are used to travelling in road full of pot holes. Trust none from Mumbai would have a dream of going into space. Reason while driving or even when you are travelling in any mode of transport on these roads you are hardly on your seat for five minutes at a go. The experience of space is here and now.
The citizens who had gathered to hear the Hon. CM did not expect something new. What started as customary gathering turned out to be highly satisfying experience of hearing the CM speaking from the heart and announcing plans and sharing information that will make travelling an experience for the Mumbaikars.
A well thought out Multi Modal Transport system. Salient points are:
- Elevated rail with elevated road to reduce congestion on present infrastracture,
- Hub and spoke system kind metro, mono rail and bus connectivity,
- Smart buses and bus shelters,
- Work on App is underway. This application would give occupancy of the bus along with estimated timing of the arrival of the bus. The bus shelter / bus stop will have an indicator to display arrival of next bus.
All this seems to be good music to our ears. Looking at the speed with which barricades are put in short duration for the second phase of Metro train on Western Express Highway and on link road, I am hopeful for a time bound delivery of the whatever was shared today.
