The Virat Kohli lead Indian Cricket Team is looking different from past one year. While defeating South Africa at home last year to beating Srilanka & West Indies on their home soil to beating New Zealand in this series. It seems India has got the knack of winning series. But this is not just one day turn around, this is what they were aiming for years, rather every Indian wanted such a side years back. Kohli era is on a roll.
Talking about current series, one major change India had made and which worked in their favour was playing with 4 bowlers. Kohli himself is a believer of playing 5 bowlers. Surprisingly India hasn’t done that this season. Another positive is Wriddhiman Saha’s form down the order. We know Saha is not among the much talked about or trended guys in the side. But he is quietly proving himself handy with 50 odd runs, which resulted in winning the Man of the Match award for this test. Along with Saha this is huge turn around in form for Pujara & Rohit in the middle order. With back to back fifties in 2 tests, everything is setup nicely to score a big one in the final encounter.
Talking about bowlers, as mentioned, all the 4 bowlers have been doing well as a unit. Bhuvi’s fifer in the first innings of this test proves that even seamers can take wickets on this tracks. Ashwin on the other hand is growing as an All Rounder. His batting is as lethal as his Carrom Ball and Off Breaks. Jadeja is someone who knows his weaknesses. Therefore, he doesn’t try to much and bowl straight and wicket to wicket, which is enough to do the damage. While all these bowlers are in good form, Shami, on the other hand after the injury is slowly climbing the stairs of crucical wicket taker. One simply cannot forget his reverse swingers and In swingers in this test.
All these performances are coming out without big tons from the the Marque Players i.e Virat Kohli & Ajinkya Rahane. Kohli had a highest score of 45 in this series whereas Rahane has just 1 fifty under his belt. With all the odds fitting in time, India still has some questions un-anwsered.
Will Gambhir get a chance to play the next game? Or will Dhawan regain his lost Position? Can we see Amit Mishra in the next? Or will it be the debutant Jayant Yadav ? Well, we all need to wait and watch the next test for all these questions.
Another Cruical but ignored point is Virat Kohli has won 6 tosses in a row. So, is this winning the toss doing the trick for Kohli & Co. How will India react when put in to ball first in the next game ? The real test begins when things start to turn the either way.
Till this season India have been top notch with its game and regaining its No.1 position by leaving behind the Arch Rivals Pakistan. All we can do is Wish team India all the best for the Future.
