A Leader needs to empower and influence. Precisely, this was the theme discussed at a two day Global Leadership Forum, 2017 that got conducted at the Art of Living International Center, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India from November 10 -11, 2017.
Leaders from different cultures, business, government, and sports came together to share this spirit, and thoughts on the kind of leadership needed, vouch for their contributions in that regard towards betterment of people.
Leadership in interdependent world, irreversible globalization, post truth era and evolution in technology were a few subject-topics deliberated by the delegates at different sessions in GLF, 2017.

Be fearless to question the existing thought process and systems, there is an urgent need to radically transform education system, observed Dr. Subramanya Swamy, Member of Parliament, Rajyasabha, India .
Subramanya Swamy furthur stressed on ” what determines the leadership in a democracy is the mindset of its people. Our education system needs to inculcate not just cognitive intelligence, but moral , social and emotional intelligence. “
The Art of Living International Center, International Association for Human Values, and World Forum for Ethics in Business hosted the Global Leadership Forum, 2017 at The Art of Living International Center, Bengaluru, Karnataka.
“While one type of leader wants to climb up the ladder because he wants to achieve something, the second type inspires others to achieve. Today we need the second type of leader who have a willingness to share and work together. When two people come together with a spirit of collaboration, offering, only then progress is possible, ” said Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in his keynote address at Global Leadership Forum, 2017 in Art of Living International Center, Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Alojz Peterle, Member of European Parliament, and former Prime Minister, Republic of Slovenia, Aroon Purie, Chief executive, Editor- in- chief, India Today, Arundhathi Bhattacharya, former chairperson, State Bank of India, Himanshu Gulati, Member of Parliament, Norway, Vandhana Shiva, Scholar and activist, RV Deshpande, Hon’ble Minister for Medium and Heavy Industries, Government of Karnataka, Hemant Bharghava, Managing Director, LIC, Gerd hoefner, Managing Director. and President, Siemens Health Care, Pullela Gopichand, Chief National Coach, Badminton India , Ajay Nanavati, Syndicate Bank were a few delegates who graced the occasion to deliberate on mind management, intuition, and sustainability.
“Political leaders should initiate actions at three levels of sustainability – interpersonal, industrial and environmental sustainability,” said RV Deshpande, Minister for Medium and Heavy Industries, Karnataka.
