Rotaract is an International Organization for the youth in the Age Category of 18 to 30 years, who believe they can make a difference. The purpose of Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance knowledge and skills that will assist them in professional development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations amongst all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service. Rotaract began as a Rotary International Youth Programme and is now a Full Fledged community in its own. Proudly known as “Rotary in Action”, today it continues to experience its phenomenal growth. There are currently more than 7,500.
Rotaract Clubs spread over 155 countries, with an estimated membership of more than 173,000 Rotaractors. The program continues to grow making it a true global movement with motto of “Self Development through Service and Fellowship’.
The Rotaract Movement in Mumbai (District 3141) is one of the most Active Youth Movements in and around South East Asia. They have been actively involved in promoting ideals of peace, harmony and community welfare across the city. Rotaract boast of over 8000 projects conducted by over 90 Active Clubs and 6500 Budding Rotaractors which belong to diverse walks of life, be it College students or Working Professionals, spanning the revenue districts of Mumbai covering areas from CST to Mulund and Churchgate to Dahanu.

What does Rotaract Mumbai emphasis on in its 49th Year?
Ans: With fervour to inculcate the sense of responsibility amongst the youth of the city, Rotaract Mumbai aims at holistic development on reaching the masses and spreading social causes of literacy, child development and women empowerment, the joy of giving and also empowerment of the specially-abled.
What social and special activities had Rotaract Mumbai executed for spreading the word of Being Responsible?
Ans: Rotaract Mumbai had managed to target 5 thrust areas to spread awareness on being responsible by performing many skits, flash mobs across the city and organizing India’s Biggest Shoe Donation Drive which involved anyone buying a pair of shoes and donating to those in need.
What Initiatives has Rotaract Mumbai taken to curb social issues faced by the youth?
Ans. Youth groups were organized on daily sessions in various municipal schools by Rotaract Mumbai teaching students about the need of cleanliness and empowering them on how to stand against “what is wrong”.
How does Rotaract Mumbai aim to reach All Age Groups?
Ans. Rotaract Mumbai has decided to create Libraries and fund Adult Literacy Program where all the cash proceedings will be flown towards that cause
What are your views on social responsibility amongst Today’s Youth?
Ans. A sense of social responsibility is diminishing these days among the youth and it is high time that we stop blaming and start acting. WRY is our initiative to strengthen the social system, thereby influencing the youth, which highly influences the future of India.
