Sleepless In The Garden, Sombre At The Beach – Whose Dharma will Triumph?

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

– Dylan Thomas

Legend says, when you can’t sleep at night, you’re awake in someone else’s dream. Sleepless nights are here to stay whether she is in the Garden or Garden City (Bengaluru) Jail. Politics has never been so poetic. The turmoil starts at the Beach, tremors are felt in the Garden and the drama comes a full circle with another gathering at the Marina Beach. This time Deepa joined hands with OPS. While the beach is becoming center of power, Golden Bay Resorts has become ‘Powerless” as Police has cut the power supply to flush out legislators. What a ‘Power Play”?

DA_SasiIt will be interesting to observe which way the legislators will switch after coming out of the resort. No one could afford the luxury of mid-term election. Power may be poison but it’s adhesive too. It can keep the flock together. It would boil down to “Floor Management”. The new leader of legislative party would find the floor too slippery to manage it. Some MLAs are already slipping out of the grip.

What’s more bewildering is the disproportionate support Sasikala enjoys even after getting convicted in disproportionate assets case. Or is it just a fallacy? Who will be “floored” by the litmus test? Whose “Dharma” will triumph? Opportunism can trounce any Dharma. No one likes to bet on a losing horse. The newfound avatar of OPS is bound to get more legislators on his side. After taking the bull by horns, he can thwart “horse trading” too. Can he make Stalin “Smile” at him again?

No matter who smiles or scowls, he is going to have the last laugh for sure.
