The Indian Pledge

The Black Coats have brought disgrace upon themselves by usurping the power of the people and have built a wall of injustice between the powerful and the common citizens in the name of protecting the rights of the citizens. The black coats have been shielding many corrupt and criminals in the name of protecting one innocent even while letting free a million guilty for want of evidence and those guilty who are free have some basic characteristics. The characteristics of people who could escape the long hands of the law are good political connections, a particular kind of religious and ideological orientation and a lot of money.

The black coats have come to think themselves as the providers of rights to the citizens and have sliced and diced the meaning and intent of the constitution to such an extent that they have become the masters of the common citizens. In the name of an unknown and alien “Basic Structure of Constitution” the black coats have crushed the rights and liberties of a large number of people without any due process of law nor provided justice to the millions of citizens. The selective justice provided has only damaged the image of the courts and has corroded every arm of the constitution and it has lead to failure of systems to such an extent that is may lead to the collapse of the democratic structure as we know it.

The Black coats have been more interested and supportive of upholding the rights of the people but have never bothered about the duties. It the later was the case then there would have been a better democratic and equitable situation in the nation instead of a pseudo secular environment. The only thing that the courts should test every issue is with respect to the preamble of the constitution and every article in the constitution should be in sync with the preamble. Rights cannot be put on a higher pedestal than the duties and no group should be higher than other. But in reality constitution is based on three principles – discrimination, confusion and servility to aliens. The black coats and their masters have played a dangerous game of judgments and forced the citizens to play the violent games to make the government pay ransom to the most violent groups leading cycles of violence from citizens.

The understanding of the constitution by the Black Coats is much different from that of the common citizen who has been asked to make a pledge. The Pledge though not part of constitution but it makes one believe that the pledge might be the summary or jist of the constitutional obligations of the citizens. The pledge made by most educated summarizes the preamble, rights and duties enshrined in the constitution and the Black Coats could have used these few lines of simple English or other suitable language to do justice to the citizens. The pledge originally composed in Telugu language by writer Pydimarri Venkata Subba Rao in 1962. It was first read out in a school in Visakhapatnam in 1963 and was subsequently translated into various regional languages.

India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters.
I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give my parents, teachers and all elders respect and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion.
In their well-being and prosperity alone, lies my happiness.

Everyone who has made this pledge would understand what could be expected from the state if he abides the constitution of this land. But the leaders and black coats have ensured that the above few simple lines meant nothing to them and their agenda is completely different. For all those power drunk people who play with the lives of Indians, their pledge would be:

India is my country and all Indians are my servants

I love my country and I am proud to sell/abuse its rich and varied heritage

It shall always strive to be worthy of me

I shall give my kids, extended family and friends wealth and treat others like dirt

To my people alone, I pledge my devotion

In their well being alone lies my happiness

The leaders of Bharat should stop this Discrimination, Confusion and Alien servility and should ensure that their pledge matches with the pledge of common citizens or matches with the original intent of the constitution makers. While a very small number of leaders are working for this, a lot of others are still in a different mode and we should hope that the time changes for good and the Equality, Democracy and Sovereignty is re-established in full for the citizens of Bharat.
